Material Handling Systems

Job Summary:Material Handling Systems, Equipment is currently seeking to hire a Safety Technician to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents through a variety of health, safety and environmental programs that will ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees. This position will provide safety oversight for all environmental, health and safety issues at multiple Material Handling Systems, Equipment (MHSE) facilities. If you are an enthusiastic, motivated candidate looking to join one of the best and most reputable companies, please apply with your resume for immediate consideration.Job Responsibilities:Must be well versed in OSHA’s General Industry Standards and familiar with ANSI and NFPA guidelines.Ensure that federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed.Assist in OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements, as necessary.Detailed knowledge of incident investigation processes and requirements.Assist supervision in investigations of safety & health incidents and near misses; identify root cause and follow up on corrective actions.Daily presence on the production floor(s) to identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and unsafe work practices. Conduct risk and ergonomics assessments on work practices at all production facilities.Knowledge and understanding of safety & environmental processes, procedures, and systemsCollect data, maintain records, and manage filing systems for Environmental Health and Safety as requiredConduct and document weekly, monthly bi-annual and annual inspections on multiple safety processes and safety related equipment.Strong working knowledge of hazard assessments, emergency response planning and the ability to develop & deliver effective trainingWorking knowledge of hazmat, HAZCOM, reporting, and documentationAssist in and conduct new hire orientation and safety trainings for all new and existing employees.Assist in development, implementation and maintaining Company safety policies.Coordinate with the Safety Supervisor on development and implementation of hazmat procedures and policies.Excellent organizational and follow-up skills; competent in problem solving, team building, and planning.Displays a sense of urgency when completing assignments and other responsibilities.Work in an honest and ethical manner, maintaining confidentiality on all business-related matters.Qualifications:At least 5 years’ experience in safety, environmental, or health management and compliance. Associates degree or higher in related field is a plus.OSHA General Industry 30-hour training desired.Possess a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety.Demonstrated leadership skills and abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills, including ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software.Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed.Must be willing to work overtime as required.Must be willing to travel occasionally.Must be willing to work any shift.This job description describes the general nature and level of work expected of a person assigned to this position.
